My AA2A access has been an exciting year for me, giving me the opportunity to explore working in new ways. As a painter currently working in oil on canvas, access to the printmaking room at PCAD allowed me to experiment with different materials and techniques. Concentrating on silkscreen printmaking I approached my work from new vantage points, picking up threads of past ideas and developing them in my work on canvas. In particular, the process of committing to an image and then reproducing it, working on it over and over allowed me to play and experiment and to take my relationship with the image further. With an abiding interest in aspects of people and places that may go overlooked I'm interested in making images that have a universal sense of familiarity, looking not for a place, person or story but a resonance. As a starting point I used drawings I had made based on the singing angels in Piero's Nativity and of people sleeping on public transport. The images became transformed through the process of printing, painting, washing and altering. I also experimented with printing on different surfaces from muslin to canvas which allowed more vigorous washing than paper. I allowed serendipitous moments to occur sometimes taking the process to the limit that the materials could sustain, seeking to balance the surface and abstract qualities with representational content.Working on canvas with oil paint I've continued the experimental process of using a range of media and materials: watercolour, ink, sugar, charcoal, oil, pastel, coloured pencil and acrylic.BA Fine Art St Martin's School of Art London U.K. Certified Sexologist MidWest Institute of Sexology Michigan U.S.A.
